UNS Controbase Base Substrate - Ultum Nature Systems

Ultum Nature Systems Controbase is a supplemental, nutrient-rich base substrate designed for planted aquarium use. This highly porous substrate is pumice stone infused with slow-releasing Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorous, and trace elements. It provides numerous benefits like support for heavy root-feeding aquatic plant species and excess nutrient regulation. Its larger 6-8mm granule size promotes improved water flow and oxygenation, cultivating beneficial bacteria growth and improving plant vitality.

Key Features & Important Notes

• Comes pre-bagged in mesh filter bags for easy removal and reusability. Place mesh bags in the tank as is - Do not remove Controbase from the mesh bags. Controbase can be stacked to create varying slope heights for aquascaping. 
• Nutrients will last for approximately three months.
• Ideal to use with UNS Controsoil or Controsand layered on top depending on your aquarium’s needs (info below).
• Important Note: Do not wash. Spread evenly beneath planted aquarium soil, sand, or gravel. Ensure that at least 2 inches of substrate is layered on top of controbase.
